Originally from the east coast, I draw inspiration from the natural world, the
textures of the ocean and the night sky. While in Montreal, I studied at
Centre de Céramique Bonsecours and at Concordia University in fine arts.
In my ceramic work I try to fuse elements of these universes.
All my ceramics are handcrafted from start to finish. Each piece is unique
even if it is done in a similar style. I love to mix my own glazes and to create
pastel and matt finishes not usually seen in commercial ceramics.
My striped cups and bowls are hand carved. Though time consuming, I feel it
gives the lines a lovely, natural, subtle irregularity like ridges in sand. And
when I use colors I often let them bleed into diffuse smoky patterns that are
impossible to replicate.
My designs are often stark, simple and bold—a mix of contemporary and classical.
